Jane has been a Visual Arts Instructor with artsREACH since 2012. She has a Bachelor of Education from UVic with a concentration in Art Education. She taught as an Elementary classroom teacher in the Victoria School District for ten years before choosing to stay home and raise her family.
We are so proud of Jane, one of our instructors, who has been recognized by the Victoria Foundation for the work she does in our community.
Jane creates a caring and inclusive community that uses creative arts to form connections among individuals in Victoria. She has recognized that social isolation is one challenge that those with disabilities or health issues can prevent them from fully participating in their communities, and that art can provide both social and educational benefits. As an instructor at ArtsREACH and the Lead Facilitator at Pandora Arts Collective, Jane creates a welcoming space for all abilities. She is also the support worker at Community Living Victoria for a young artist with autism. Jane is an artist, teacher, and community leader who ensures that everyone knows they belong.
When messing about with her own art projects Jane enjoys mixing detailed line drawings with watercolour, printmaking, and encaustic mixed media collage. She especially enjoys searching through recycled materials to see what she can create out of what she has got.
Jane loves to get messy with kids and art and so loves her job!
