Aisling has a passionate interest in theatre, dance and drama-in-education. These interests grew from her diverse experiences teaching English, theatre and dance abroad in Hanoi, Vietnam, Shanghai, China, and Tamil Nadu, India. In Hanoi, Aisling taught elementary students at VIP International School (2009-2012). She was also a member of the Hanoi International Theatre Society and performed in both small and large theatrical productions. In Shanghai, Aisling taught at Sino-Canada High School and gained valuable experience co-directing and choreographing dance and theatrical productions including ‘Grease’ the musical (2012-2013).
In Tamil Nadu, Aisling’s Masters research focused on drama-in-education methods and culturally relevant pedagogy to promote English Language Learning with a grade eight class at Isha Vidhya Matriculation School (2014). During her time in Tamil Nadu, Aisling was also the teaching assistant for the University of Victoria’s International Field School. Participating in the Field School was a wonderful opportunity for advancing Aisling’s knowledge of reminiscence theatre and intergenerational theatre for development.
She is delighted and honored for the opportunity to provide high-quality performing arts training to young students across the Greater Victoria School District. It is an absolute joy for her to witness students participate in theatre and dance workshops and build strong performance, co-operation and communication skills.
