What a year it has been! With 219 workshops completed in Sooke, Saanich, Victoria and WSANEC Tribal School Boards, I am very proud to congratulate our artsREACH dance, theatre and visual arts instructors for a job very well done!
In Victoria School District these instructors presented in Cloverdale, Craigflower, George Jay, James Bay, MacAulay, Quadra, South Park, Tillicum, Vic West, Oaklands, and View Royal (new this year).
“My class LOVES dance and everyone felt totally into it. They worked together and lifted each other with compliments and invitations….This was an exceptionally well paced lesson. Thank you!” — Susanna Solecki, South Park Family School grades 1+2
In Sooke District you might have seen them in Colwood, John Muir, John Stubbs, Port Renfrew, Ruth King, Saseenos, Savory, and Sooke Elementary. Elementary children participated in our workshops in Brentwood, KELSET, Prospect Lake and Sidney Schools from the Saanich District. These instructors also presented in the LAU WELNEW school of the WSANEC Tribal School Board. For the first time artsREACH instructors did Dance and Theatre workshops in Port Renfrew in addition to our annual Visual Arts visit to their tiny school.
How were these workshops carried out? Well, there were 79 ninety-minute In-school Visual Arts workshops, 29 In-school Theatre Arts workshops and 63 sixty-minute In-school Dance workshops presented. In addition 4 six-session After-school Visual Arts programmes and 4 six-session After-school Theatre programmes occurred.
None of these wonderful workshops would happen without the generosity of our grant funders and donators.
